Tijuana, Baja California Norte, Mexico - Part 2

Driving by the "Tijuana" billboard (see previous posting) got me thinking - I should take a road trip to the fare city. Not only because of the good times that can be had - of the legal and illegal persuasion - but the city is currently up for grabs. How you ask?

Well, the Associated Press as well as many other trusted news outlets recently reported that Tijuana's 2,000 strong police force were without guns since January 5th. Apparently, tired of all the corruption, new Mexican president Felipe Calderon ordered soldiers and federal police to confiscate all the officers guns as part of an investigation. But before you think you can go and run a muck because there are no armed officers to stop you (and ask for a bribe), the police department recently issued 60 slingshots to lucky officers along with bags of ball bearings.

I wish I was making this up. What a way to strike fear into criminals. Next thing you know, they will be playing freeze tag with drug smugglers.

here's a thought- take the sling shot and aim it at the pesky border patrol :)
