This one came quietly.
It was a Monday morning and we were just waiting. My sister and her husband were checked in and were in their room being prepped. My mom and dad were with them also. Once it was time, they (my mom and dad) were supposed to come out to the waiting room to let us know it would be any moment.
We were in the waiting room - a waiting room that had a new carpet smell, the air conditioner set on arctic and a TV that only had two channels. My brothers were talking amongst themselves. My sister-in-law was entertaining my nieces with the help of my brother-in-law's mother. His father and sister were there also reviewing recipes in the magazines that littered the room. As for me, I was in the corner on the phone doing damage control for work.
And then it happened. My brother-in-law ran into the room - managing to bang his face into the door because it did not open fast enough - dressed in medical garb shouting , "It's a boy!" And the room exploded with cheers and hugs. My mind started racing of his first Batman toy and how long we would have to wait to see the Star Wars Trilogy (is this weekend to soon?)
And there it was, my family grew by one. And I'm a happy uncle or tio as I'm called. This has been a very good year.
